Christine is a native of Newport Beach, California. She spent her childhood outdoors, in and around the water, surrounded by a beautiful environment and constant sunshine of Orange County. She grew up knowing that art and travel where in her blood. Chris learned to honor the landscape and historic treasures of Europe and America. She followed her mother into the arts and her sea captain father into all things nautical. Christine has a long line of mariners in her family tree and coincidentally, she worked as a naval draftsman, yacht illustrator and yacht interior designer throughout high school and college. Graduating with a Fine Arts Degree, she worked many years in the interior and building industries. With a lifelong interest in jewelry, Christine studied the art of metal smithing, becoming a fine jeweler. Having won many awards and scholarships for her art and jewelry, she knew from early childhood that her art training would one day culminate in the pursuit of excellence as an oil painter. Christine's love for antiquities and European paintings and drawings are evident in the subject matter of her paintings. Placing the greatest value on tenacious study and academic training, Christine has continued her lifelong quest for that training studying with great artist-mentors including, Kevin Macpherson, Scott Christensen, CW Mundy, Sherrie McGraw and David Leffel.
"I am very lucky to be a lifelong resident of the birthplace of the California plein air movement, where art has always been a large part of my life. Inspired by the old Dutch masters whose goal was to capture light and drama, the natural beauty in the moment, I strive to translate the beauty of my surrounding onto my canvas. My goal is to capture in my painting experience, a look, a feeling, and a bit of mystery that will resonate in an emotional response with the viewer."
